Geely Galaxy Sets Guinness World Record: Lowest Fuel Consumption for a Plug-in Hybrid SUV on the 1,056-km Sydney-to-Melbourne Route

Recently, the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i achieved an impressive average fuel consumption of just 3.83 liters per 100 kilometers during a real-world endurance test covering the 1,056-kilometer route from Sydney to Melbourne. This remarkable performance has officially earned the vehicle a Guinness World Records title for “Lowest Fuel Consumption by a Production Plug-in Hybrid SUV Completing the Sydney-to-Melbourne Coastal Route.”
Unlike controlled-track evaluations, this record-breaking journey took place on actual public roads along Australia’s scenic coastal highway—a highly representative “intercity mobility corridor.” The route encompasses diverse driving conditions, including coastal plains, rolling hills, winding mountain passes, and congested urban segments, closely mirroring the demands of everyday long-distance travel and serving as a true real-world proving ground for automotive fuel efficiency.
The 2026 Geely Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i was launched in China in November last year, with four variants priced between RMB 95,800 and RMB 123,800. The vehicle is powered by Geely’s proprietary Thunder Power EM-i hybrid system, which integrates a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with P1 and P3 electric motors and a single-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). It delivers a CLTC-rated fuel consumption as low as 3.15 L/100 km in charge-sustaining mode and boasts a maximum combined driving range of up to 1,575 kilometers.
